My favorite time of year ... Christmas! This year, we spent it with my family and had Christmas at our house. My sisters, Suzy's husband, my parents and all the dogs stayed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I love having a full house. Crazy. Chaotic. Love it. Mom and Dad slept in the guest room, Brooke in the gameroom, Suzy and Michael on Luke's bunk beds and Katie on the couch.
Besides having a bunch of people oohing, ahhing and laughing at them, I'm pretty sure Luke didn't get the concept of presents and Santa. The only thing Madeline was interested in was the ribbon and wrapping paper. So, I'm glad Santa didn't go crazy this year. He must have a sixth sense for that type of thing, knows when not to go overboard. As for Adam and me, we are going to make a conscious effort not to get the kids a ridiculous amount of presents at birthdays and Christmas. They get three presents -- if baby Jesus got three presents on his birthday, they do, too. So, they got something they need, something they want and something they read. Besides ... Grandmother and Grandad and Grammy and Papa have it handled in the gifts department, that's for sure. And, we'll have to talk with Santa about his choices in the stocking. Apparently, Luke does not want alligators or rhinos to play with, but Madeline seemed happy with her owl towel and teether:

And, Maddie was mastering the army crawl over the Christmas break. The teachers at daycare call her a little firecracker or spitfire. She is definitely determined and goes after what she wants:

Before Christmas, Mom, Luke and I made a gingerbread house that turned out exactly like the picture.

Brooke brought some fake hair, so I had a long pony and bangs for a few hours. I'd love it if my hair would grow that long. Adam said I looked like Teen Mom, which I'm not sure is a compliment.

Happy first Christmas, Maddiecakes.
