Happy Birthday, Katie!

I'm almost a week late, but I hope my youngest sister Katie had the best 19th birthday ever! Here are a couple of pics -- top from our wedding, bottom from her tournament at SMU last Thanksgiving.

Luke's Crib

We finally put together the nursery this weekend, and it looks so cute!
We still have a lot to do, but hopefully these pics can show you all of our (Adam's) hard work.

Eric and Jennie gave us such a huge gift with this nursery furniture -- thank you so, so much! It looks great, and I can't wait for Luke to use the same furniture that his oldest cousin Katie used. So sweet!

32 Weeks!

Just eight more weeks to go. Eek! Still have a LOT to do, but am feeling great! Right now, he's about 3.75 pounds, almost 17 inches long, and he's supposed to fatten up in the next two months.

Babysitting the Hoots

Morgan and John are moving into their new house this weekend, so she needed some help watching 7-week old Olivia and Carson. When she asked me, I was thrilled to help, but I didn't tell her I was also kind of terrified to be alone with them. So. I called in the pros -- my mother-in-law Kathy, who can practically look at the little girls and they fall asleep. Man, have I got a lot to learn from her! This was a full-time job watching these little girls -- thank you, Kathy, Amy, Lauren and Michaela! (I obviously needed a crew).

Morgan, I have a newfound respect for you :). On top of taking care of two babies at once, you also have a toddler! Whew.

Attack of the Baby Brain

I've got baby on the brain, and I'm forgetting everything:
1. There's a LoneStar dropbox by my work that I use to deliver work packages at least once a week on my way home. Four times now, I've made it all the way to my house only to look in my passenger seat -- there sits the package. So frustrating.
2. I put the milk in the pantry the other day.
3. I spent all morning scheduling a lunch date with two girlfriends to remember tonight that I have an all-day meeting tomorrow.

Gone Fishin'

Adam and I went with Michaela and Ryan to the coast this weekend to have a little getaway before these babies come. It was a quick 48-hour trip, but fun! We'll be eating fish for a while...

I've gone and done it. I now have a skirt bathing suit.

Baby Blues

Grammy Meador gave us a big gift today -- she painted Luke's room while we were at work! It's a really pretty light blue, and with the bedding should be so relaxing! Maybe he'll sleep alot.

And, she brought her new puppy Buster (looks just like Max when he was a puppy).

Thanks, Mom!

Hee Hee Hooooo

We started our birthing classes at the hospital and have one more week to go. They really do teach you to breathe "hee hee hoo, hee hee hoo" and "go to your happy place", which was difficult for me to find with 14 strangers around. Some things we need to keep in mind:

  • 5-1-1: call the doctor when the contractions are 5 minutes apart, 1 minute long, for 1 hour.
  • Don't forget the parking pass!
  • Adam's hospital wristband gets him a free beer at Waterloo and me a free milkshake (Adam says he wants to borrow my wristband so he can get two beers. He better smuggle one into the hospital for me).
  • I need to get the epidural before I'm a 4 or it's no looking back.

Up and at 'em, Adam!

I snapped this of Adam when he was sleeping and snuggling my Snoogle! He must be pregnant, too. This. Is. The. Best. Pregnancy. Pillow. Ever.

Shower!!

Michaela and I had our first shower -- together! Adam's and Ryan's cousins Holly and Cassie and Aunt Ruth hosted it for us. Thank you so much for such a fun time! These little boys are set!
Adam's sister Lanie, AKA The Sewing Queen, has outfitted Luke and Nolan in the cutest bibs ever! I'll feel so bad when Luke spits up on all of her hard work.
My grandma's gift was really special. She framed an outfit my grandfather wore when he was a baby in 1927!
Introducing Grandmother and Grammy!

Some of Adam's family came all the way from Dallas, and some of my family came all the way from Houston! Hope my aunts and cousin Jessie are reading this -- their blog debut!
All we're missing is the Suze.

Music Lessons

Who knows if this really works or not, but we figured it couldn't hurt to try. Every morning and evening, Luke has a classical music lesson -- hopefully this will make him extra super duper smart when he grows up. (Studies say classical music played for a baby in utero improves his linguistic and motor skills).

So, we'll continue our short lessons with Mozart, and maybe Luke will be the next CEO of Microsoft or something...
