I'm Frustrated!

Our glass coffee table got the best of Luke this weekend. I think he was super frustrated that he couldn't get to the pens.

Happy Birthday, Cousin Alex!

Luke met some of his cousins for the first time the other day -- 2-year-old Alex had a birthday! Alex is Travis and Cassie's son (Travis is Adam's cousin). I have to take notes from Cassie -- she's good! The party was so cute, and I'm sure Alex had a super good time.
Cousin Leah is in the background.

Getting silly with Aunt Ruth.

Aunt Katie Visits

My sister Katie spent a couple of nights with us while she was on a short break from school (she plays basketball at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte -- go 49ers!). It was so fun to be around her -- she was nice enough to run some really boring errands with me (Container Store, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target). And, she was there when Luke puked everywhere -- nice to have someone else around when that happens.

We miss you already, Aunt Kate! Can't wait to see you in a couple of months for Suzy's wedding!

9 Months!

Two-thirds of the way to a year old. I can't believe it! It's going by really fast -- just like everyone said it would.

We had a quick trip to the doctor this week -- not the 9-month appointment, just an impromptu visit. There is a stomach virus going around Luke's daycare, and he caught it. They called me on Friday about lunchtime to say he had a small fever and an upset tummy. So, I picked him up, called it a day at work, and went to the doc. She says he's hitting all of his milestones and is a happy, healthy baby, besides having a stomach bug.

Last night (Saturday) might have been one of the roughest in a while. He'd been fine throughout the day, but when I fed him that last bottle, he got a strange look on his face and projectile vomited it all over me, the chair, the floor, himself. It was a mess. And, he kept going for at least 15 seconds. Poor thing. For the rest of the night, he was up every hour on the hour, and all four of us (me, Adam, Luke and Max) slept in the guest bed for a while. For some reason, that's the bed we always sleep in when Luke doesn't feel well.

Standing Up!

I was putting my makeup on in the living room yesterday morning -- I get ready, Luke plays next to me. And, as I was brushing on my powder, I thought Luke seems a little closer than normal. I looked down, and he was standing up! I missed it! The good thing, I guess, is that he fell on his bottom right after and stood right back up.

He won't stand anywhere but against the couch. Maybe he's able to get more leverage on his arms to boost himself up.

Closing Time

Closing date is set! June 10 (which is coincidentally my best friend Kim's anniversary). Adam and I are going to take the following week off to move.

I told Adam we're going to have to do something exciting next year ... in 2007 we got married, in 2009 we had Luke, in 2010 we moved. Maybe we should starting thinking about having another baby ...

Silly Sleeper

Luke's only slept through the night 10 times since he's been alive, not that I'm counting ...

But, even if he keeps us up, he's still a cute sleeper. I love it when babies stick their bottoms in the air.

First Mother's Day

When I came home from San Antonio, it was the day before Mother's Day, and what a great 18.5-pound gift to come home to! Luke was so exicted, plus Adam sent two dozen roses to the house, so they were already delivered when I got home.

On Sunday, we went to Johnson City to my aunt and uncle's place -- their land has a creek that's pretty full right now. It's so beautiful out there. That evening, we had dinner with the Scotts. First Mother's Day = totally awesome!

Sad in San Antonio

I had a four-day work trip to San Antonio last week. To say that it was the longest week of my life is an understatement. The TDA holds its annual session (a dental trade show) every May in San Antonio, and all staff is on lock-down, practically. I work with a lot of other mothers who I'm sure missed their kids just as much as I did, but this was my first time away from Luke for longer than a seven-hour workday.

I probably drove Adam crazy with the calls and texts, but he was totally awesome! Kathy stayed with him the first night, but after that, he was on his own. I feel like I didn't give him enough credit. I don't know why! He did great, and in the end, it was a good way for the two of them to bond.

Glad it's over! I have an entire year to gear up for the next one. Yuck.

Lisa's Baby Shower

Summer (lives in California), Mandy (lives in San Antonio, due August), Lisa (lives in Arlington, due June), Lukey and me, Selena (lives in Dallas)
My college girlfriends and I threw a baby shower for our friend Lisa this weekend in Dallas. Mandy and I drove up on Friday, drove back on Saturday. Quick trip, but so much fun!

Lisa got a bunch of great stuff -- she's going to be the best mom! It's cool to see my friends in this stage of their life. We've experienced college together, then getting our careers started, then meeting our significant others, then getting married, now having babies! What a ride!

This trip was the longest road trip Luke's had so far, and boy did he make it memorable. About half-way there, Mandy took over driving and I sat in the backseat. I was mid-song "Itsy Bitsy Spider" when I smelled it. A smell that's always recognizable. Poo. Don't know what happened exactly, but it was everywhere. Down his legs, all over the carseat, he'd even gotten it on his feet and on the backseat. Mandy pulled over and, coincidentally, the gas station had a water hose faucet. So, we stripped him down and hosed him off. It was a crash course for Mandy -- she's due in August. He must've wanted to make sure she really got some practice -- he did the exact same thing on the way back. What a mess. I was down to one toy that didn't have poop on it and stuffed in a plastic bag by the time we got home.

Grace and Mikel Visit

Grace and Mikel spent two nights with us because Mikel had meetings in Austin for work. The kids were so cute! They were really excited to see each other, and Grace kept trying to give Luke a hug. I really wanted to get the token bath pic, but Grace wasn't really having it.
