Baby Dear

I've always loved the Little Golden Books series, and my favorite one growing up was Baby Dear. I just loved it -- the mommy with the new baby, the big sister with her doll. Makes me so excited to have a baby girl -- I can't wait to read it to Madeline. Last Christmas, Adam's mom gave me a collection of all of the books written by the Baby Dear author, so I have it ready to go! I think Maddie looks just like the baby in the bathtub:

Night Night, Sleepyheads

Adam loves to have the kids sleep on his chest and take a nap with them. When Luke was a baby, I can't tell you how many pictures I took that looked just like this picture of Daddy and Madeline: And, this is how I found Luke and Adam last night after they read books:

On another note, Luke loves his toddler bed. The transition was no big deal whatsoever (besides the one night he fell out of it -- yikes). Usually when he's trying to fall asleep or when he's woken up, he'll still stay in his bed, he won't get out of it. If it was me, I'd hightail it outta there and find my momma. But, this is how I found him the other night. He must've gotten out and piddled around his room for a while before heading back to bed. Didn't quite make it all the way in:

Newborn and Family Pictures

When Madeline was about 10 days old, we had newborn pictures taken at a studio. With Luke, the photographer came to the house, but we decided to make this a day of newborn pictures and family pictures. Madeline was great! She was wide awake the entire time -- the flash of the camera must have really held her interest. I'd nurse her throughout the shoot to help her really cooperate and it worked out great. Toward the end, she fell asleep, so we were able to get some beautiful sleeping shots. Luke was semi interested in the entire thing. He and Adam left half-way through to avoid a complete meltdown, but the shots we caught were really sweet.

Butting Heads

Luke and I have been butting heads lately. And, he's been literally bumping them with just about everyone. Head butting is his new thing, especially to Madeline. In the same minute that he gives her one of his trucks, he also gives her a little head butt. This. Is. Not. OK. I've done time outs so many times in the last couple of weeks that I've lost count. Is he getting jealous? Is this his way of dealing with emotions? Is this a 2-year-old thing? Not sure. The time outs only work occasionally, and they're sometimes coupled with a little spank. He has to know that he cannot do that to people, especially his baby sister.

And, that's not all he's doing. Just yesterday he took a big sip of milk and walked right over to Madeline in her swing and spit it on her. Back to timeout we go. Sigh. I swear he's a sweet kid ...
