Little Mover

Luke is so funny. For the most part today, he crawled in a 5'x5' area ... wouldn't really venture out of his safe zone. But, twice, he really took off. Once, he crawled right into my lap from across the room. And, here, he spots Max who was, I'm sure, trying to get far away from Luke:

Contract Pending!

It's been a busy week! We're under contract for the house. "Pamela" backed out, but "Michelle" came through! I hope she doesn't change her mind over the next seven days. We have a closing date of June 28, so that should give us plenty of time to move out. Adam was, of course, the master negotiator. I'm glad he's in charge -- I would've sold it at the first offer!

Fingers crossed "Michelle" doesn't cancel!

Visiting Grandparents

Luke and I went to Marble Falls last weekend to see my parents and grandparents. It's neat to see my and Adam's parents with Luke. They love him so much and think everything he does is cute. Luke's lucky to have so many grandparents who love him so much.

Mom and I left Luke with Dad while we had a mani/pedi. Grandpa held down the fort -- "Don't worry! I had four kids!" -- but when we got back, he admitted he was running out of games to play.
And, it's really neat to see Luke with my grandparents. He was really interested in Great-grandpa Madden's beard. Great-grandma had gotten some toys out for Luke's visit, one of which she'd saved since her kids were little! An antique at this point, but I remember playing with it, too.

8 Months!

He's almost been alive as long as it took to make him. It seems like he's been a part of our family forever. I have to say, this age is pretty fun. He's starting to really show his personality. Some of the things he loves:
1. Max. He's just waiting for Max to let him yank his tail or hair. Not going to happen soon, I'm afraid. Max always looks at me like, "Really, are you going to continue to let this happen?!"

2. Lion. When I give it to him, he gets really excited and stuffs it in his mouth, which I'd like to think is his way of giving it a kiss. Probably not, though. He's probably just trying to eat it.

3. Squash and peas. He loved squash and peas until this week when he decided to boycott all food and stress me out! Is he ever going to eat again?

4. Going on walks. He (and Max) love love love going on walks around the neighborhood. We grab the stroller, Lion, and we're off.

5. Sitting on the bed in the front room. I swear he could play there for an hour. I don't know what it is. Maybe he likes looking out the front window, but we could sit and play on that bed forever.

Crawling!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxLEQ61hlGU

It's official! He's a crawler. He took his first crawl tonight. We've been thinking that it would be any day now -- he's been trying really hard lately, rocking back and forth, getting into a crawling position but then giving up. But, we're officially mobile. So, now, we need to baby proof! I have a feeling that life will be a lot more busy!

Teething

Finally -- an answer to the fussiness! He's had a cold for a week and a half now, but I could not for the life of me believe that that was why he was so irritated. I mean ... he's had a cold since October (not the same one, of course, but one after the other)! Why is it bothering him so much now? So, I felt around, and sure enough. There's a little tooth under those bottom gums. I had Adam check, too, to make sure I wasn't imagining it.

It hasn't broken through yet, but that little bitty thing is causing a world of trouble in our house. He refuses to eat solids, wakes up all through the night, fusses when I put him down, fusses when I pick him up, fusses when I change his diaper. Who knew such a teeny tiny tooth could be the source of so much pain? Poor thing.

I'll post a pic when it breaks through.

Eatin' Big

Oh -- he makes me laugh. When he eats, he has to have his own spoon, which more often than not just gets in the way of my spoon. But, it's funny anyway. We have yet to finish eating without getting more on us than not. He usually sneezes at least once while he eats. So, I get a spray of squash, apples or bananas on me.

Overall, he's a good eater (even though I don't have another baby to compare to), but he's not too hungry in the morning. I always have to take the remaining jar of food to daycare.

House Update

The house is coming along! They've added the garage doors, poured the driveway, installed the cabinets, and textured the walls. Every day I drive by, I get so excited! And, we met the couple who will live across the street from us. They're our age, which makes it even more exciting. What's funny is that they're currently neighbors to one of Adam's co-workers. Such a small world. She's a vet and he's a graphic artist. I've already invited them over for a glass of wine -- ha.

It's going to be late May, early June, so unfortunately, momma's not getting a new pair of shoes. Oh well -- new house is much better.

We have one person -- "Pamela" -- who keeps teasing us with an offer. I really, really hope she'll come through, but I'm trying to not be too excited. We lowered the price, so that might help.

C'mon, house! Sell!

Easter 2010 / Happy Birthday, Grandmother and Aunt Amy!

Easter was great! I can honestly say that this has been my favorite Easter ever. Having kids makes everything more fun.
We went to Eric and Jennie's house to celebrate Easter and Adam's mom's 60th birthday. Happy birthday, Grandmother! She's running out of lap space! Grandkid #5 will be here soon -- Mic and Ryan should find out soon what they're having. We love you!

Luke loves his Aunt Amy. I don't know what I would've done when Luke was born without Amy. She, Kathy, Mom and Suzy really helped me those first few weeks. And, Amy helped me put Luke on a eating/sleeping schedule. Her birthday is later this month, but we celebrated it since we were all together. Happy Birthday, Amy!

Like Father, Like Son

Adam likes to nap. Funny -- so does Luke. I think Adam loves it when he can nap with him.

Lately Luke hasn't been using his pacifier much, but when he's tired, it'll put him right to sleep. So, we're not getting rid of it yet ... but soon.

Prince Luke

Prince Luke thinks it's really funny when you put the plastic donut toys on his head. And, when they fall off -- watch out! He thinks it's hilarious!

Blue Eyes in the Bluebonnets

Mic and I had a photo shoot in the bluebonnets today. The boys were so cute!
When they see each other, they're so funny -- each tries to touch the other one, always on the face. Luke (the Observer) usually just stares at Nolan. Nolan (the Leader) usually bounces around, which is probably why Luke is staring at him. Ha.
