Baby Bunny

Michaela and I had pictures taken of the boys. I think they're adorable, but Adam was none too pleased when I brought these home. He says Luke looks like a girl. Whatever. He's an adorable bunny for Easter. Good thing I bought the 10"x13" print.

Sorry for the quality -- I took pictures of pictures...

Bye Bye, Black Bag

I've stopped pumping and am breastfeeding just once a day (when he wakes up in the middle of the night). A haiku for the trusty bag that I've carried for seven and a half months:

Goodbye old black bag
We've met each day -- three, five times
To storage you go.

Hanging with the Hoots

We met up with the Hoots this weekend. They've, sadly, moved to College Station. Had to head to the homeland, I guess ... crazy Aggies. Morgan swears they're coming back in two years when John's project there is over. She better, or else.

Speaking of Morgan, she's super-mom! Check out this pic -- she says she wasn't feeding the girls fast enough. Wow! I think I have my hands full with one ...

7 Months!

Luke's getting so big! He's recently gotten over a double ear infection, but he's better now. A few new things he's doing:
1. temper tantrums -- he is definitely letting us know when he's unhappy.
2. arching his back -- I really have to hold onto him when I change his diaper or put him in his carseat -- he'll squirm right out!

3. frustration with his toys -- When his toys won't do something he wants or when he can't reach them -- woowee -- watch out.

4. crawl position -- He's not crawling yet, but when he sits, he leans forward and gets his bottom off the floor. Crawling is in our near future!

5. eating -- He'll eat his solid food so quickly! And, he grunts when I don't feed him fast enough! Geez!

Stuck on Stucco

I really think I'm going to win the bet -- c'mon May 21 -- be the closing date!

The house now has stucco and paint on the outside. The inside hasn't been touched yet, except the fireplace has been installed. Adam poured borax around the perimeter of the house -- supposedly it's a natural insect repellent.

Getting excited! Now we just need more furniture...

Kite Festival

We went to the kite festival last weekend. I really thought Luke would be interested in the kites since he's always looking at ceiling fans and lights and the decorations that hang from the ceilings at daycare, but I don't think he even noticed a single kite!
Foot. Mouth. Mmmmm.
Of all the toys he has, he goes for my iPhone cover and an empty water bottle. Go figure.

My two favorite guys.

Monday Night Fever

When I picked Luke up from daycare yesterday, they told me he'd just started running a 100 degree fever, his first fever. I took him home, fed him, gave him some Tylenol and a bath and put him to bed about 8 p.m. Three hours later, he woke up wimpering and when I pulled him out of bed, he was burning up! Took his temp -- 103.5! Good grief! When did that happen?! I woke up Adam, and we tried to give him some more Tylenol which immediately caused him to throw up. This sent me into a freak-out mode.

I really thought that I was calm and collected in tense situations. But, I guess when it involves my kid, not so much. I'm going to have to work on that. The second he threw up, I was telling Adam that we needed to go to the ER. I'd already changed clothes and was ready to head out the door. Oh -- the voice of reason. He talked me out of it. But, for the rest of the night, Luke and I slept in about 45-minute increments in the guest room. We were both pretty exhausted today.

I took him to the doctor this afternoon, and it turns out he has an earache. Who knew? We're armed with antibiotics, so we should be on the mend.

Big Eater

What? Is there something on my face?

We're making progress and eating big! We've gone through the basic first veggies and fruits, and he loves butternut squash and apples. I decided this week -- while it's fun and all to make his food, I'm stopping once it gets to be more complicated than this. I am not going to make the meats or food combos. Plus, I have to take food to daycare sometimes, and I can't take frozen icecubes. This week, I took some store-bought prunes because it had a "#1" on the container for first foods. Oh, I'll try that one! Big mistake. He pooped all day. His teachers must think I'm a nut or, at the very least, that I don't know what I'm doing. Which I don't.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Adam's 33rd birthday was last week. And, he did it again! He made me fall in love all over. He told me that it was really important to him that our new house had a big back and sideyard -- he wanted to make sure he had enough room to throw the ball with Luke. I had no idea he even thought about that stuff yet!

Since so many of the Scotts have February birthdays (Grandad, Adam, me), we got together for a group birthday lunch. And, we had to have an impromptu photo shoot with the cutest boys ever:

Weird Dreams

You can ask any of my friends (mainly Summer), and they'll tell you that I don't really like other people's dream stories. I mean...give me a break. They're not real. You'll never fly through the sky, and you'll never show up at school naked. Or whatever. It's all fake. But. I've been having two of the same, really strange dreams over and over. And, I'm not sure why. Maybe it's anxiety -- ?

1. Our dog Max sleeps with us (to Adam's chagrin), and he sleeps right up against me. Several times I've woken in the middle of the night (Luke is still sleeping) after feeling Max's fur in my sleep. When did Luke grow fur?? What's going on?? OMG. That's not Luke. That's a dog. Where's Luke?? On the floor?? Did he fall?? Wait. He sleeps in his room (check the monitor). There he is. In his bed. This is Max.

2. Last night about 11:30 I sat up straight, and my heart was pounding. Where are the twins?? Did we forget them at school?? (I get up and go to Adam's side table and open the drawer). Are they in here?? No. OMG. Where are they?? (I open the drawers to the dresser). Are they in here?? Wait. We don't have twins. We just have Luke (check the monitor). There he is. In his bed.

So weird. I have no idea why I'd be looking for babies in the drawers. But, it's really strange!

House Update

We took the pre-drywall walkthrough yesterday. It's kinda the last step until they start the drywall, countertops, etc., from what I understand. No turning back now! From here on out, it'll take about six weeks or so. My bet is that we'll close May 21st. Or, at least that's the date I chose in my bet with Adam. Hopefully I'll win, in which case, momma's getting a new pair of shoes!
