Terrible Twos?

Is that what's happening? Could my sweet LukeyBear be venturing toward the Terrible Twos? Oh Lord, help me. I think so. Lately, he sure does seem to tell me "NO!" a lot. About everything. And, he sure does have a strong opinion about things he didn't seem to mind doing before -- sitting in his carseat, sitting in his highchair (how about a cracker? juice? you can have a cookie at the end.), putting on his shirt, brushing his teeth. His back arches, his legs straighten, and he screams a loud "NOOOO!"

The other night at bathtime, he even followed me through the house screaming until we got to his bathroom. Then, he hit me with his bus, "NO!" All because I just want to bathe him so he's nice and clean to go to sleep. Does he not understand that?! Does he want a momma who would let him go to bed with peanut butter in his hair?

Sigh. I knew it was coming.

29 Weeks!

I'm 29 weeks pregnant! Already! It's gone by so fast. I feel like I looked like I swallowed a basketball. We still don't know what we're having, but according to the Target clerk, the manicurist and the TSA agent at the Lubbock airport, it's a boy. So, there you go. Very scientific. Who needs sonograms? The manicurist even felt along my tummy to help come to her prediction, which was totally welcome since we'd known each other all of five minutes. That's so weird when people do that!

Starting with my appointment next week, I'll go every two weeks. The last two monthly appointments (at 24 and 28 weeks), I saw the nurse practitioner. Normally, this isn't such a big deal, but at the 24-weeks appointment, she had me take another sonogram because I was looking "a little small." Not at all what I want to hear! After the sonogram (with more pictures -- bonus for the stress), she determined that I'm really "long and tall" and hide my pregnancy well. Geez, lady. Give me a heart attack. Regardless, it gave me a chance to rub it in Summer's face that my theory over the years has been right -- I've told her that my long torso means my organs are spread out more than hers, but she thinks it's a bunch of bull. I now think I'm even more right.

I'm getting really excited to meet this little baby! He/she sure does like to kick his/her mommy a lot. Luke doesn't have a clue what's going on. Every once in a while he'll say "baby" but it's when he sees a picture of a baby or a baby doll, not when he looks at my tummy. He probably just thinks it's getting big and in the way when he tries to wrap his little legs around it. That's getting harder and harder to do. Right now, I just hold him up really high, above the bump, but in a few weeks, it's going to take over and I don't know how I'll do it.

My brain has started turning to mush. Especially lately. I am so unbelievably forgetful! Here's what I've done lately:
1. Today: I dressed Luke and myself both in green for St. Patrick's Day (hence the shirt in the picture). St. Pat's is tomorrow, but now I don't have a green shirt.
2. Saturday: I dressed Luke in green for St. Patrick's Day. I must be really excited about this holiday.
3. At work this week, I packed up a bunch of boxes only to unpack all of them to get what I needed when I started the project.
4. Our neighbors had a party for a couple of hours last weekend. Before we went, I made Luke some vegetables on the stove and fed him when his babysitter arrived. A couple hours later when we came home, the stover burner (gas!) was still on. This has really bothered me. I hate that I was so scatterbrained. Thank God nothing was next to it. Ugh. It just makes me sick to my stomach to think of how I could've hurt Luke especially.

AHBUH AHBUH AHBUH!

In case you didn't know, this is Lukespeak for, "A bus! A bus! A bus!"

The other day we pulled up to ... count 'em ... five yellow dogs, and I thought Luke was going to lose all control. He got the biggest smile on his face and couldn't quit yelling, "AhBuh AhBuh AhBuh!" Ohmigoodness! So many school busses! At one time! Soooo exciting!!

Instead of taking him to see the firetruck, I should've taken him to see the schoolbus yard.

February Fun

February is a big month for us. First, my parents have their birthday on the 7th, then it's Valentine's Day, then my birthday on the 19th, then Adam's dad's birthday on the 20th, and finally Adam's birthday on the 28th. Happy birthday to all of us, especially Luke's beloved Dada.

We had a rare dinner out for my birthday. And, I'm glad to have this picture -- Adam's not really one for public displays of affection, but now I've got it on film.
For Valentine's Day I sent Clementine oranges to Luke's classmates. The teachers asked us to send nutritious treats, but all Luke received was candy! I bet all the kids were disappointed in the oranges, but sadly, I think I'll do again each year.

Fun Times with NaNa

Since Ryan and Michaela are moving to San Antonio soon, we're trying to have as much playtime between Luke and NaNa (Nolan) as possible. Luke will miss his little buddy.

By the way, do you notice that in every single picture Luke has his bus in his hand? It's with him morning and night, all day, every day.

The water looks like it's radioactive, but I really accidentally dumped almost an entire jar of color tablets.
