Yesterday, the doctor showed me a sheet from our last sonogram appointment, and it had two entire columns of just "Ns". N = Normal! She says everything is looking great so far. We heard his heartbeat, which was at 150 (so fast!) -- normal is between 120 and 160.
23 weeks tomorrow!

What's Shakin'?
One day, Luke might be interested in knowing that his Grandpa Meador was a big-time rock star! Thanks to the World Wide Web, this jewel of a video is forever archived on YouTube. It played on MTV in the '80s when Dad was playing with Joe Ely (and Mitch Watkins, Roscoe Beck and Bill Ginn, who are also in the video). Check out Dad at about 1:24 -- he's hardly recognizable with his black hair, fake tats and sunglasses.

Pretty Pregos
I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, so I'll get to hear that little speed-of-light heartbeat again. Maybe Dr. Sweeney can tell me if his little feet are sitting on top of my bladder because all I'm doing is going to the bathroom 24/7 (four times in one night!)! Speaking of feet -- Adam thinks Luke's going to inherit my feet because of the sonogram pictures. Long toes might be in his future. Poor thing.
Spring Cleaning
Really, I had to get the guest room closet ready so I can start putting the nursery together. Morgan was so sweet to give us some of Jackson's old clothes, so I bought teeny-tiny blue hangers and hung them up. So fun! Luke's going to be the cutest little boy in the world.

A Dog's Day
Today, Mom, Brooke and I had lunch at Guero's on South Congress so we could take our dogs -- Max, Zorro and Mom's new Yorkie puppy Thor. Little did we know that we were right in the middle of the Easter Dog Parade! A band marched right up South Congress, followed by dozens of silly-looking dogs. And, Brooke found a super funny harness for Zorro, complete with doggles. And, then, there must have been a scavenger hunt going on because a group of people stopped us crossing the street -- "What was the only school to beat UT last year?" Ummm. Hello! TEXAS TECH! Hopefully they won...just like the Red Raiders! Wreck 'em, wreck 'em, Texas Tech! (Sorry, Sue ;)).

Old Friends
My cousin Bob posted this super old picture on his Facebook, so I stole it. Morgan, Rachel, Kim and I visited him in Austin when we were 16/17 or so. I think it was the same weekend that the Pearl Jam concert was supposed to be. It was cancelled, but we came to Austin anyway. Mom followed us in her car to Abilene, then we drove the rest of the way BY OURSELVES! Our first road trip. Man, we're getting old.

20 Weeks -- Halfway!
1. People I don't know want to touch my stomach, which is starting to pooch out now.
2. I think baby brain is a real affliction of pregnant women. Today, for instance, I went to the grocery store to get salad ingredients and birthday cards, both of which I forgot. I did remember to get the new US Weekly, though, which is really important.
3. Another baby brain incident: when I first found out I was pregnant, I was returning to work after a doctor's appointment and talking to Brooke as I parked my car. Five hours later, as I'm walking through the parking lot toward my car to go home, I'm digging for my keys in my purse. Panic sets in as I can't find them. Where did I put them?! Then, I notice that it sounds like my car is running. Yep. There they are -- in the ignition, with the doors unlocked. Good thing I'd filled up with gas that day.
4. A Jehovah's Witness made me feel sure that my pregnancy would be OK and that I'd have a boy. He was 80, and it was 30 degrees outside so I talked to him when he came to my door. I couldn't turn the poor old man away. He told me he wanted to read about the Mother Mary, and it piqued my interest since I'd just found out I was pregnant. Then, he chose a scripture from the book of Luke (the name we'd chosen for a boy) and read, "And He said unto her, 'You shall be with child.'" So, I, of course, took it as a sign.
5. I took a pregnancy test after asking Brooke over and over if she'd just put on perfume. She hadn't but had used facewash an hour earlier. She immediately said, "You're pregnant." The nose knows....
Leonard Cohen Concert
Adam and I went with my family to the Leonard Cohen concert earlier this week. It was great -- sold out in 1 1/2 hours, so I'm glad we got tickets! He had four (!) encores and five or six standing ovations.
We haven't seen him in concert since we watched Dad play with him about 16 years ago! Dad was the drummer on Leonard's 1979, 1980, 1988 and 1993 world tours, and he's played on four of his albums. A really old picture of Dad (he still has black hair!) was in a Leonard Cohen feature article in the Austin newspaper this week: http://www.austin360.com/music/content/music/stories/2009/04/0402xlcover.html

We even got to go backstage so Dad could hang with his old music buddies, and you could tell he was having so much fun! (In the picture are Mom's cousin Bob and his mom Chris, Mom, me, Dad's cousin's husband Hobby, Brooke, Dad's cousin Marilyn, Brooke's friend Matt and Adam).
